How are appointments scheduled?
Our office attempts to schedule appointments mutually agreeable with your convenience and our appointment availability. Preschool children should be seen in the morning because they are fresher and we can work more slowly with them for their comfort. School children with a lot of work to be done should be seen in the morning for the same reason. Dental appointments are an excused absence. Missing school can be kept to a minimum when regular dental care is continued.
Since appointed times are reserved exclusively for each patient we ask that you please notify our office 48 hours in advance of your scheduled appointment time if you are unable to keep your appointment. This allows us time to contact another patient in need of our care. We realize that unexpected things can happen, but we ask for your assistance in this regard.
Do I stay with my child during the visit?
We invite you to stay with your child during the initial examination and future cleaning appointments. At about age 4, we suggest that you encourage your child to accompany our staff on their own. This helps your child to gain confidence and overcome apprehension. For the safety and privacy of all patients, other children who are not being treated should remain in the reception room with a supervising adult.
During dental appointments involving operative procedures (fillings, extractions, etc.), parents are kindly asked not to leave the office and to remain in the reception room while your child is being treated. We want parents to be entirely comfortable with the situation and although we respect that some parents may feel the need to be with their child throughout a dental procedure, unfortunately this is not recommended in our office. The doctors do welcome any questions or concerns about this policy at the examination appointment.
Dental Insurance and Payment Information
We accept most private insurances and Medicaid (Quest). We do not participate with any HMO plans. If you are unsure, please don’t hesitate to call and we will research your plan for you. Be aware that benefit information provided is not a guarantee of coverage. Final determination is made when the claim is reviewed and processed.
We accept cash, check, Visa, MasterCard, and Debit or Check cards. To help keep our fees reasonable and to avoid costly billing services, the estimated co-payment and all Hawaii State Taxes are due on the day of your child’s appointment. Services which are not covered, or considered optional by your dental plan will be your responsibility. If you are unable to accompany your child to their visit, please make arrangements with our staff to either make your payment prior to the appointment or to allow us to post a payment to a credit/debit card on the day of the appointment.
MOST IMPORTANTLY, please keep us informed of any insurance changes such as policy name, insurance company address, or a change of employment.
